I'll agree with you that many Louis Vuitton bags and shoes are not easy to keep, even if you keep them very well. The Vernis colour transfer and turning colour, you've experienced as have I. The Mini Lin series can't touch water or the colour will run, and other canvases discolour too.

I'm speaking from experience as a collector of more than 30 Louis Vuitton bags. In the latest of my experiences, the white Multicolore canvas is also something that consumers need to watch out for because the front pockets of my Keepall 45 have discoloured due to the glue stains during the making process that turns up 3 years later! I've already written to the LV store in Stockholm and they haven't gotten back to me on the next step.

Though I would so much love to stay in love with Vuitton bags, I must say that Louis Vuitton has disappointed me in terms of customer service and quality of make. What I'm peeved about is that if you pay €4k for a bag, you'd expect it to last 20 years and not 3 years before discolouring, in my case, I like to collect them and I'd like for them to stay as how I bought them, not say, turn colour on its own just sitting there!

The multicolore bag that discoloured was taken out 3 times and for the rest of the time, it was kept out of the sun, in its sleeper bag, in the cupboard. And when outside, the bottom of the bag never touches the ground, yep, I'm that finicky about my bags and where they sit!

So no, in my experience, Louis Vuitton bags don't keep longer than any other bags.
